Sticky rice is also eaten in place of regular Thai jasmine rice and we very much prefer sticky rice! It is easy to cook, if you have the right tools - an aluminum pot and rice basket as seen below. We have never successfully made it in a Japanese style electric rice cooker!

Bring water in the aluminum pot to a boil. Dump rice into steaming basket and let drain. Put steaming basket over the pot of water and cover loosely with a dish towel. Let steam for half an hour for 2 cups of rice and another 5 minutes for each additional cup - it isn't that fussy.
