Our bat cave has been an asset since our civil war. It played an important part during ww II in what was known as project x-ray in 1942. Today, our insectivorous bats and the "bat attractor" scent packet which helps attract other bats to newly erected bat houses is important in attracting new bats to new houses for mosquito control. A bat house that holds 300 bats can account for as many as 600,000 mosquitoes eaten each and every night. Many of the mosquitoes may be infected with bird flu, west nile virus and/or h5n1. A bat that eats an infected mosquito stops the chain of the virus. Never before has it been so important to establish insectivorous bat colonies near and around farms where chicken, Turkey or poultry products are being produced.
